News - Tue 2nd Mar 2010
After 4 rounds and £1000 given away in cash, The Climbing Works winter bouldering league 2009/10 has come to an end. Overall it was a fantastic series, easily outstripping last years number of entrants. In fact we had so many people taking part this year we had to extend our normal competition hours from 3 to 4!
The overall winner of the Works winter bouldering league is Roy Mosley (for the 2nd year running). Roy is an ex British lead team member and is no slouch when it comes to competitions. What is even more impressive is that he came back from a bad finger injury (that happened in Round 3) to still score big in round 4. Impressive work indeed. In the senior Women's Diane Merrick showed constant form to come top. Diane is a current member of the British Women's Bouldering team.
In the Junior categories the boys was close all the way through, showing an incredible pool of talent coming through. The winner was Seb Smith who scored constantly high in each round and showed some fantastic talent to win this hard category. The top 3 boys scores would all have been top 10 scores in the male seniors! In the girls Natasha Milinkovic dominated each round winning by a clear margin.
Each winner of their respective categories win a 3 month membership to the Works while 2nd place in each category wins a DVD of their choice.
Thanks to everyone who came and took part (even those who didn't hand in their score cards!). The Works Winter bouldering league will return in November bigger and better than ever.
In the meantime, the CWIF takes part on the 20th March. A competition with a difference. Read all about it on the CWIF page>>
