The Berghaus Winter Bouldering Competition is an open to all competition that will run from Friday 24th November at 6pm to closing on Sunday 26th (8pm).
There will be 20 problems to try mainly set on the Berghaus Competition Wall, with a few spread through the main centre, with Tout à Blocs style scoring! Each problem has a maximum of 1000 points topped divided between everyone who does the problem, regardless of number of attempts. This means if 50 people do a problem it'll be worth 20 points, but if a single person tops it then it's worth 1000, with highest overall score winning. This can make things a little tactical with the multi day format - if you want maximum points; come and work the hard stuff, then rest up and send on Sunday! Flash format can get pretty frustrating if you bungle a couple of easy problems, whereas this should help you get stuck in over the course of the weekend. If you're heading over to watch the Reel Rock Tour on Sunday, there will even be the Porter Pizza oven here in the evening so you can grab some excellent pizza before heading over to the Abbeydale Picture House to watch the films.
SCORECARDS & Prizes
Scorecards will be free (just pay your standard entry) & are available from reception any time after 6pm on Friday. You can keep hold of your scorecard until 8pm on Sunday, so you can try the 30 problems at your leisure, but they must be handed in by 8pm on Sunday to count. There are Berghaus goodies for the top 3 Adult Female & Male, & top 2 U18 Female & Male categories, as well as a prize draw for returned scorecards so you can win something just for entering!
