2 Mar 2018 SHEFFIELD SCHOOLS BOULDERING COMPETITION 2018
SHEFFIELD SCHOOLS BOULDERING COMPETITION 2018
This annual competition is the highlight climbing event for all Sheffield schools. It is run a The Mini Works in conjunction with the Links School Sports Partnership and Thornbridge Outdoors.
The Sheffield Schools Bouldering Competition is not all about the competing and winning, for many it is about participation, fun and experiencing a new activity.
Most teams are made up of pupils that have very little or no previous climbing experience
QUALIFICATION ROUND
The qualification round takes 2 hours and is run at The Climbing Works.
Qualification sessions can be booked from December 2017 and can take place either during or after school hours at a time and date to suit. Qualification rounds must be completed by the 16th February 2018.
At the start of the qualification session the competition format will be explained and time for climbing practice will be allowed.
The qualification itself will involve climbing 8 - 10 specifically set boulder problems. Points will be scored on how many of the climbs get topped by each competitor and the number of attempts it takes.
Qualification sessions are run by The Climbing Works coaching team.
