4 Sep 2013 Osteopathy Session

From August Mike Birkby, osteopath, manual therapist and sports massage practitioner will be providing treatment sessions at The Climbing Works on Wednesday evenings.

These private sessions will be held in the activity / treatment room within The Mini Works. If you have an injury or are keen to prevent one occurring, you can now take advantage of a special discounted rate through The Climbing Works.

A Sheffield local, Mike has been climbing, cycling and running for several years and has experience and understanding of how these sports and training for these sports impacts on our bodies. His work focuses on optimising the body’s musculoskeletal function and efficiency of movement through massage and stretching techniques, mobilisation and manipulation.

Mike will be providing 30-40 minute sessions that you can book using the link below.

Session times available: Wed from 4-8pm

Session price: £20

Mike will also be providing a FREE 15 min consultations at The Climbing Works every 2nd Thursday starting on the 8th August between 6-8pm, see Events calendar for more details.

6 Sep 2013 Amatsu Therapy Sessions

Alex Mosco is an Amatsu Therapy Practitioner, martial artist, climber, cyclist and walker. He is well well aware of the need for good physical and mental health to function effectively in all these sports. Treating the body globally rather than just the symptoms of an injury is intrinsic to Amatsu, and with overall balance the body is able to maintain health naturally.

Alex discovered the Japanese system of Amatsu Therapy via martial arts. Amatsu Therapy applies soft-tissue mobilisation techniques to relieve restrictions in muscles, tendons, fascia, and ligaments. These releases re-pattern muscles, improving joint function, ranges of movement and treat the whole body. Treatment comprises hands-on physical manipulation suitable for all ages, genders and levels of mobility and can be used preventatively or post-injury.

By releasing soft tissue restrictions conditions ranging from sports injuries, back pain, shoulder issues, sciatic complaints, ankle and knee problems and musculoskeletal postural and mobility dysfunctions can be treated

Details:

Balance approx 1 hour: £25

Remain clothed in loose, comfortable attire.

Under 16’s to be accompanied by parent/guardian.

17 Sep 2013 Rock Tots: New Session

Details

Every Tuesday from the 17th September

Start: 10.15am.

Cost: £6 per session

Parents will need to be a supervisory or full member. There will be a supervisory induction at 10.00am on Tuesdays for anyone who is new to the Mini Works. Rock Tot customers will receive a FREE supervisory induction allowing them to supervise their children outside of the session

Our classes are for parents with babies and or tots up to preschool age. Each class will kick off with an active singing and movement. Parents with tots can then get involved with the physical games; these will focus on six different areas and rotate over a six week period.. It will be a rolling program so you can join the sessions whenever you wish.

18 Sep 2013 Evolv Performance Evening - FREE!

Come down to the Climbing Works on the 18th September for a FREE training seminar with Ben Bransby of Evolv. Aimed at beginner to intermediate climbers this will be like an advanced Adult Improver session and is ideal for those climbing from Purple Spotty, Blacks and trying to climb Wasps (Font 6a-7a).

We will aim to run around 4 x 45min- 1hr (6-7pm (NOW FULL), 7-8pm, 8-9pm, 9-10pm approx, each with 5-6 climbers) through the evening with Ben discussing his training, providing some ideas and running a masterclass. This is a great opportunity to pick up some tips on adding more structure to your own climbing, or just to learn some new techniques.

Don't forget, our usual Adult Improver and ABC Class will also be running on the night for more handy tips and techniques from the Climbing Works instructors.
