Climbing Works Club
Climbing Works Club (9-13 Years)
Who’s it for?
Children aged 9-13 years who have an interest in climbing who would like some guidance on how to develop their skills. All abilities welcome.
What to expect?
Through the guidance of our coaches, the club will follow our yearly plan which has been designed to help build on the basics and develop their understanding to a higher level with the ultimate aim of them becoming more independent with their climbing. Climbers will always follow a warm up and cool down routine to ensure they understand the importance of it and techniques will be developed through drills on and off the wall.
As a minimum requirement, children on this session are required to have completed a NIBAS level one course. This course will ensure that all members know how to use the centre safely and have a basic understanding of climbing. We do require a certain level of maturity in order for our coaches to allow independence within the centre.
So how does it run?
The session runs for 1.5 hours and we have classes on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning. The classes are weekly, and run through Sheffield term time only.
Climbing under the supervision of parents/guardians is a great way to progress, particularly if family members are climbers themselves. For those who are show natural talent and dedication, and also perform well on our Selection Day, we have Advanced Kids Club and WADS.
