7 Dec 2009 Works Winter Bouldering League Results R2

Friday 4th Dec saw the 2nd round of The Climbing Works Winter Bouldering League. After the 1st round which saw a lot of tops on the cash prize, it was no surprise that this months was a little harder.

The night overall saw around 70 competitors take part. 25 problems right through the grade range with a very special slab problem with some new beastmaker 'metal' holds.

9 Nov 2009 Works Winter Bouldering League Results R1

Round 1 of our Winter Bouldering League went amazingly well with over 100 people taking part in the nights competition. 25 problems graded from Font 4 to 7c meant a wide range of abilities tackling Sam & Percy's creations.

The cash prize problems both got sent with the Men's getting 10 tops (a bit of lateral thinking by Dave Mason meant missing the crux out and led to many tops after him) while the Women had 3 ascents. The Men each got £12.50 while the ladies went home with £41 each. Not a bad nights work for Leah, Katy and Naomi.

The full scores are now available to view and can be downloaded here >>

You can read a quick overview of the nights action on our blog. The next round will take place on Friday 4th December with another £250 up for grabs. The Men's problem will be a little harder next time....

N.B. As the night was so popular and by 10pm, people were still trying to tick problems, we are going to extend the hours of the comp. R2 will now start at 6pm and end at 10pm.

9 Sep 2009 New Circuit Topo available online

The latest circuit topo is now available on the website. The latest circuit to be set is the brown which is graded in the font 6a-6c range. This now means that we have reset all the circuits since the refurb in mid June. That's roughly 400'ish problems in 3 months. Not bad going at all.

10 Mar 2009 CWIF 09 Results

Saturday was simply a huge day. We had well over 150 competitors of all ages trying the qualifying circuit throughout the day. There was also a large number who came just to climb in the fantastic atmosphere that is the CWIF.

We've been adding up all the scores and getting it all organised. With so many competitors it takes a lot of time to make sure the scores are correct. Below you can find a quick summary of the day along with the pdf's of the top 100 competitor scores, the Mens & Womens results and of course the overall Final results. We'll have a bigger summary of the whole day, along with photos, on the website soon

Qualifiers:

The qualifying circuit was 30 blocs set to test every type of climbing style. There was dirty slabs, dynos, crimps, slopers, fridge hugging, pinches, you name the hold and type of move and it was there. Yes, there was even a crack. The qualifying circuit was an open affair with everyone climbing the same problems at the same time. Climbing Works normal 'joe public' members were climbing alongside Jerome Meyer and Tyler Landman and the atmosphere was fantastic.

Semi-Finals:

The semi's took place on the Berghaus Competition wall with the setters going all out to test the stamina, power and flexibility of the final 16 men & women.

Finals:

The finals will be remembered as one of the best competitions to be held in the UK. It was tense, it was close and it came down to the wire for both the Mens and the Women competitions. A roaring crowd, big moves and tired competitors led to some of the best climbing action seen at a UK competition for years.

11 Feb 2009 Berghaus Bouldering League: Overall Standings

This Friday night (13/02) see's the fourth and final round of the Berghaus Bouldering League at The Climbing Works. We've added up all the scores from the previous rounds which you can view in pdf format below.

If you are handing in your scorecard please write your name so that's it legibe. For eg, Dave Barrens and Dave Barrands might be the same person, they may even be Dave Barrans but if you don't write your name clearly then we can't be at fault for not adding your scores up correctly (this could also be the reason why Dave B does so well at comps - he is actually 3 people!!!)

3 Feb 2009 Mina Cranking In Suisse

Word on the street is that mild mannered Works receptionist Mina has just dispatched her first Font 8a by climbing the problem Teamwork in Chironico. An awesome effort, and with other classic hard problems like Doigts Vert (7c+) in the bag on the same day, her extended climbing trip seems to be going from strength to strength. She's now in Font for a month so keep on cranking Mina!

19 Jan 2009 Berghaus Bouldering League: Round 3 Results

Results from round 3 of the Berghaus Bouldering League have now been added up and can be viewed as a pdf here. It was another close run thing with Dave Barrans scoping top spot, helping somewhat to compensate on missing out on the £50 cash prize.

Round 4 is on Friday 13th February and is also the last round of the Sheffield Walls Bouldering League so it should be a cracking night.
