5 Jul 2012 10:00 16:00 Schools Bouldering Competition

The annual Sheffield Schools Bouldering Competition will be running for its 4th year on the 5th July 2012. Previous competitions have been held at The Climbing Works but this year we have teamed up once again with Links School Sports Partnership and now Thornbridge Outdoors and The Cliffhanger team to run the competition in Graves Park as part of the build up to The Cliffhanger Outdoor Show, which will be hosting amongst many other outdoor sports, The British Bouldering Championships.

Competition Format:

The competition is open to both Primary and Secondary schools in Sheffield who can bring a team of 4 – 6 climbers made up of both male and female competitors (Years 5-6)/(Years 7-9).

Teams will be required to book a pre comp preparation session at The Climbing Works before the event which is included in the team entrance cost, (if you would like your school to have more sessions please email michelle@climbingworks.com).

Schools will be given a 90min time slot between 10am - 4pm on the 5th July to come a try as many of the 10 climbs set specifically for the competition. Points will be awarded on how few attempts it takes the participants to complete each climb. The top 4 individual scores from each school will be added together to produce the school’s score. There will also be individual male and female places.

The presentation will take place at approx 6pm on the Saturday 7th July with prizes being presented by members of The British Bouldering Team. Schools with winning participants will be informed on Friday 6th.

Cost: Pre comp prep and entrance to the competition

£30 = 4 competitors / £40 = 6 competitors

All Participants will receive a goody bag with a family ticket to Cliffhanger worth £12 and a certificate. Prizes have been generously donated by The North Face, Alpkit, Wildcountry, Red Chilli and DMM.
