Percy Bishton, Sam Whittaker & Graeme Alderson Percy Bishton - Percy has been a climbing wall manager for 12 years and has vast experience of climbing wall matters including building a number of walls. For the last 11 years Percy has worked as a professional route setter and has worked at numerous climbing walls throughout the UK and has set routes at numerous national and international events held in the UK. For the past 3 years Percy has been qualified as an international route setter and has worked at numerous events including 2 World Championships. He is now considered one of the foremost route setters for bouldering competitions and consequently now receives appointments as Chief Route Setter for World Cup events. Percy has been the Development Officer for the Climbing Wall Manufacturer’s Association (CWMA) since 2000 and amongst other things he has developed and delivered the CWMA Route Setting Course over this period to a number of centres and climbing walls throughout the UK including various military establishments. Percy will be one of the company’s two Managing Director and will be in joint charge of the centre’s day to day running. Sam Whittaker – currently employed as UK Sales Manager for prAna and Metolius Sam’s experience encompasses many aspects of the company’s work. He has had several years experience as a climbing wall manager, working at the Rope Race climbing wall in Marple. He has also worked as a professional route setter at a number of commercial climbing walls over the last 10 years. The specialist knowledge that Sam brings to the company however relates more to his recent work as UK sales manager for Beyond Hope Ltd, where he has worked in marketing and sales for one of Britain’s major climbing equipment distributors. Sam will be the company's second Managing Director responsible for marketing and the on-going development of the company’s retail sales. Graeme Alderson - BMC Competitions and Climbing Walls Officer since 2000 and prior to that a self employed Climbing Consultant specialising in indoor climbing, he has a wealth of experience of climbing wall issues as well as necessary business experience. Graeme is also a long standing International Competition Climbing Judge and is currently the only British based Judge that regularly acts as Jury President at international climbing competitions. In addition Graeme served as a member of the Management Committee of the international governing body of competition climbing (UIAA-Climbing) and is currently the Director of the UIAA-Climbing Events Commission and a member of the UIAA-Climbing Rules Commission. Graeme will serve the company as a Non-Executive Director |
